A few fast links
Today is Tisha B'Av, a day of fasting and mourning the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem. Unlike Cindy Sheehan, for whom a fast or hunger strike consists of saying no to the extra hot fudge, Jews fast on this day with no food or water whatsoever, from sundown the previous night until sundown this evening.
While I may come up with something later tonight, after the fast is over, for now I'll just pass on a few fast links that are worth your attention.
Here's one I really liked. James Lileks has sharpened his pen and turned it against the idiocy of a recommendation by Rep. Charles Dingell (D-Mi) for neutrality in the Middle East.
Opined Dingel:
Yael at Step-by-Step is all over questions about the Qana building collapse. Her latest is a stunning comparison explaining how odd it is that the bodies and rescue workers at Qana were not, in general, covered with dust, just one of many questions in this incident. The issue has even knocked Yehuda from his usual gaming coverage to also register his outrage at the media's complicity in the propaganda war against Israel, marshalling a classic Woody Allen scene to make his point.
That barbarian, Ozymandias, sends a yawp to Yoni's blog for its further revelations of the depths of Hizballah depravity.
Don't worry Shifra, I appreciated it, especially since much of the rest of the world really is extending the fig leaf -- to Hizballah, to cover their missiles and rockets and violations of Lebanese sovereignty.
Elder of Ziyon notes that Hizballah is spinning so hard it's a wonder they don't stagger and fall right over. Soccer Dad has more coverage of the spin cycle.
The Elder is also celebrating a few upcoming milestones. Why not stop by and help a great blogger reach his next milestones that much quicker?
Inspired by a fantastic Psychotoddler post, Jack strays from his usual trademarked Random Thoughts to explain how even Westerners not living in the Middle East, Jews and non-Jews alike, are still part of the struggle in Israel. As usual, Jack gets some interesting comments there too. Why not add yours?
Check out this unsettling video from Nahariya that shows a little more what it's like up there, and will leave you saying "Are you crazy? Get off the roof already!"
If you really, really liked this -- or even really, really hated it -- there's lots more:

Parried Lileks:
I don't take sides for or against Hezbollah; I don't take sides for or against Israel.
And that's only the start, RTWT (Read The Whole Thing).
Strict Neutrality, or Dingellism. This may seem odd to some, given that one side consists of bloodthirsty religious lunatics who relish the indiscriminate killing of civilians, and the other is an Islamic social welfare organization reluctantly pressed into combat.
